Music Club
The Music Club sponsors a variety of activities, including:
The Venue. The Venue showcases student group compositions produced inside and outside the classroom. Its purpose is to give groups a venue to play and perform in front of an audience of their peers, family and friends. It takes place in Benaroya Theater at the end of each school term.
Broken Records. This is a record label created by students. Its purpose is to enable students to record, edit and produce the songs created by student writers, and to teach students the workings of a record label. All recording, mixing and production is done in the Upper School music classroom. The mp3s on this site are examples of this work. |

Musical/Rock Opera
Every
other year, Bush Upper School Music and Drama produce a musical
theater production. Arthur Beakler and The Mathematastics was
performed in February 2003. It was nominated by the 5th Avenue High School Musical Drama Awards for Best Orchestra Performance by The Pit Bulls . Here are two recordings from this show. Linda's
a Crummy Drummer
and Cindy's Fashion Finale.
In February 2005, Bush became the first high school in the country to produce Bat Boy: The Musical. Copyright restrictions prevent us from posting music from this production, but it was a huge success.
Herbert Bergel returned to The Bush School in February, 2008, in the form of El Cid, a rock opera set in 11th Century Spain. Special kudos to the 5-member student band, El Bandito. |
