Here's what I want you to prove using induction:

 

1.) First, write up the proof we did in class.

that the sum of the first n integers gives you: [(n)(n+1)]/2

 

2.) Then show that the sum of the first n SQUARES give you [(n)(n+1)(2n+1)]/6.

 

Question: HOW COULD YOU WRITE "the sum of...." from up above using SIGMA notation, if you weren't having to post your writing on a WEBPAGE??
